New Skater Classes

MSRD hosts multiple Learn to Skate classes annually focused on new skaters and the roller skating skills required to get started. Classes are held two times a week over six weeks. Sign-up to learn the fundamentals of roller skating, including stride, form, agility, and much more! All skill levels are welcome. Officiate

The power of the almighty whistle could be yours…

If you love roller derby but don’t want to be a blocker’s target, join our team of awesome officials! Skating Officials ensure everyone’s safety, and Non-Skating Officials make sure that everything runs smoothly during bouts. We could not skate without these magnificent beings.

Skating Officials

Referees are skating officials who wear roller skates during practice and during bouts. As members of MSRD, they are welcome to skate alongside MSRD players during practices. Each referee ensures safety and fairness during scrimmages and games.

Non-Skating Officials (NSOs)

NSOs manage any officiating position during a scrimmage or bout that is not on skates. Some of these rockstar positions include:

  • Scorekeepers
  • Lineup Trackers
  • Penalty Box Timers
  • Penalty Trackers
  • Jam Timers

Officials must be 18 years or older. All genders are welcome.

Volunteer

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, MSRD relies on awesome volunteers to help make our bouts a reality. MSRD would not be able to skate without everyone’s support.

Did we mention volunteering on game day gets you into the bout for free? OH YEAH!

Some game day volunteer opportunities include:

  • Set-up/take-down
  • Ticket sales
  • Bartender
