Roller Derby 2022 Season Benefits Local Non-Profits

Local flat track roller derby league bouts raise funds for three Central Wisconsin organizations

The Mid-State Sisters of Skate (MSSOS) announced that they made over $600 in donations to three different Central Wisconsin nonprofit organizations, including Proud Theater – Wausau, Humane Society of Portage County, and Project Lifesaver. During each home bout during MSSOS’s season, the team highlights a local charity to help raise awareness and dedicates a percentage of any profits to support these organizations in the community.

“We love getting to showcase the amazing work of other nonprofits in our community during our home games. It’s a great way to spread awareness and bolster Central Wisconsin while doing what we love,” said Rachel Reed, MSSOS veteran skater and league president.

“Contributing to organizations like Proud Theater, the Humane Society of Portage County, and Project Lifesaver was important since many of our league members are actively involved in the community and value these groups,” added Danielle Kraus, a member of MSSOS’s Board of Directors. “We’re glad we’ve been able to help support the community that supports us.”

In addition to making financial contributions to local organizations, MSSOS also volunteers in a number of other community events. You can find league members volunteering at the upcoming Guns H’ Hoses event – a charity cops vs firefighters softball game in Stevens Point – and at Trivia Unplugged.
